LAKE SERIES, 1999

Oil on B&W photocopies on mylar on plywood, 36in. x 36 in. x 4 in.

Exploring the intersection of personal history and (Canadian) Art History. The photographs were taken by me in 1980s at the lake near where part of our family settled when they arrived in central, Ontario, Canada in the 1870s.  This intersects with Canadian Nationalism’s that return with the stories of iconic landscapes by the Group of 7, 1915-1920s.

At the time these were done, 1999, I was living in Vancouver, BC, studying painting.
